Best Will Ferrell Movies

“I often don't think a lot about the ramifications of anything I do.”
-Will Ferrell, personal quote

Will Ferrell is clearly one of the funniest men alive and has starred in many great films. His next sure-to-be hit film Get Hard comes to Aksarben Cinema March 27 and stars Ferrell as millionaire James King who has run into some trouble with the law. He recruits Darnell Lewis (Kevin Hart) to prepare him for life behind bars. The twist is that Lewis has never been behind bars.

Where will Ferrell’s latest film rank amongst all his hilarious films? We’re not sure yet, but we do know which films rank as the best of Ferrell’s career to us. There are countless winning performances to choose from, but we narrowed it down to four that stand above the rest. Do you agree with our choices? Let us know in the comments.

1.     Elf

It wasn’t until Ferrell starred as Buddy the Elf that his star truly shot through Hollywood. In Elf, Ferrell stars as Buddy, an elf with a sugar-coated brain who goes in search of his biological father (James Caan). This film also introduced audiences to Zooey Deschanel and Peter Dinklage who have both found super-stardom with their respective television shows.

2.     Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

No other Ferrell film is as quotable as Anchorman. Nearly the entire script is featured on the IMDB Quotes page because every line that writers Will Ferrell and Adam McKay came up with made this an instantly quotable comedy classic. In Anchorman Ferrell stars as Ron Burgundy, legendary newsman, who is thrown for a loop when a female anchor appears, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), a young woman looking to be taken seriously. Burgundy has to shape up his and his new team’s antics if they ever hope to keep their jobs.

3.     Stranger Than Fiction

Ferrell, no stranger to a challenge, found himself in more dramatic fare when he took on the role of Harold Crick in the dramedy film Stranger Than Fiction. For this performance he received his second Golden Globe nomination, the first being for The Producers. In the film Ferrell plays an IRS auditor who discovers that he is a character in a novel written by a woman who often kills off her main characters. This discovery becomes life-changing for Crick as he embraces aspects of his life that he dismissed initially including love.
4.     The Lego Movie

The final film to be featured on our list is Ferrell’s most recent performance. In last year’s The Lego Movie, Ferrell showed audiences that he could get animated in his performance as President Business. In The Lego Movie Ferrell is set on domination of the Lego universe, but a crew of unlikely heroes including Lego Batman and Princess Unikitty have something to say about that.

The comedy king Will Ferrell has graced our screens for years and given us great characters and performances that will always be unforgettable. Will millionaire James King be the next best Ferrell character? Find out on March 27 when Get Hard comes to Aksarben Cinema.
