In the film Wild, Reese Witherspoon stars as Cheryl Strayed, the real-life inspiration for the film and writer of the original memoir. The film is directed by Jean-Marc Valée and tells the story of Strayed as she performs a 1,100 mile solo hike after a traumatic moment in her life.
